How do you keep your RV cool in hot weather?
2019-12-18
There's no doubt that summer is a prime time for RV camping. The weather is great, the kids are on summer vacation, and you happen to be looking forward to an exciting adventure.
What are the needs of a camper? How can you best make your RV beat the heat?
When the temperature inside the RV rises dramatically, acting on the following tips is a start to staying cool.
Let's start by making sure the RV's air conditioning is working properly. Most people don't notice, but the efficiency of an air conditioner can keep the interior temperature 16 to 22 degrees below the outside temperature.
It can be simply understood that if the outside ambient temperature is in the 90 degree range, proper use of the air conditioner can keep the RV interior temperature in the 68 to 74 degree range. Now that we know how efficiently the RV air conditioner works, there are other ways we can use to keep the RV cool during the hot summer months. A practice to keep cool is to check and clean the air conditioning filter. Cleaning the filter will improve the efficiency of the air conditioning, you can use soapy water to clean it and then dry it, or use a vacuum cleaner to clean it.
On hot days, when we have to reserve a campsite or check in, ask for a shaded camping space, this will keep the RV cool and will improve the efficiency of the RV refrigerator and air conditioner.
